CAMECO participated in WACC's seminar on Digital Transformation and the role of Christian communication in promoting digital justice
On April 26, the WACC regional association in Europe hosted an online seminar to explore the implications of digital transformation for those seeking digital justice, as well as the potential role of Christian communicators in this context.
The event featured a keynote presentation by Erin Green, the author of Digital Justice: A Study and Action Guide. Green discussed the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into our daily lives and how communicators can address both the negative impacts and benefits of AI.
Emy Osorio Matorel, CAMECO's digital expert, emphasised the differences in digital inclusion between the Global South and the Global North. She highlighted various "digital divides", such as those related to access and affordability, digital literacy, gender, rural versus urban areas, language, and age. Osorio Matorel also showcased ongoing efforts like the #KeepItOn coalition, which advocates against Internet Shutdowns. She encouraged participants to collaborate with organisations working on digital access issues and explore joint strategies to bridge these gaps.
CAMECO is eager to work with WACC and other organisations to find solutions and address the complexities surrounding digital justice. Together we can make a positive impact on pressing issue.
