Digital Capacities

Helping mission-driven organisations navigate digital change responsibly

We support civil society organizations, faith-based actors, and media initiatives in using digital tools safely, ethically, and effectively — grounded in your values, your communities, and your commitment to human dignity.

The AI revolution is not a future scenario. It is already reshaping how organizations write, communicate, research, and plan. The real question is not whether to engage with these tools, but how to do so critically, responsibly, and without compromising what matters most.

At CAMECO, we help you answer that question in practice.

Our Approach

Our approach is value-based and human-centred. We work alongside leadership, communications teams, program staff, and — where relevant — IT teams to translate digital opportunities into shared understanding, sound practice, and responsible action.

We are not an IT service provider. We do not build infrastructure, engineer cybersecurity systems, or develop software. What we do is help people understand the tools they are using, the risks those tools carry, and the decisions their organizations need to make about them.

We deliver tailored training, workshops, coaching, and consultancy (in English and Spanish, onsite or online) adapted to organizational size, regional context, and the communities you serve.

What We Offer

Our services are organized into four connected service lines. They can be commissioned individually, combined into a package, or built into a multi-year learning journey. Every engagement starts where you are.

AI Fluency & Prompting Hands-on workshops, role-specific tool training, and prompt coaching that help your team use AI confidently and critically (no technical background required). Includes a custom prompt library and an automation decision framework tailored to your work.

Digital Safety in Plain Language We translate your IT policies into clear, readable guidance your whole team can follow. Includes role-specific safety guides, platform-by-platform communication rules, and internal awareness campaigns grounded in your organization's values (instead of fear or shame).

AI-Smart Communications & Advocacy Practical coaching and strategy for organizations under pressure to produce more content across more channels. We help you identify where AI genuinely adds value in your communications workflow, develop ethical content guidelines, and build a custom prompt library for your campaigns and reporting.

Responsible AI Governance We map the AI tools already in use across your organization, facilitate an ethics workshop with your team, and help you put simple, workable governance structures in place — without heavy policy bureaucracy. Designed for organizations without dedicated legal or IT teams.

Who We Work With

Our services are designed for and regularly delivered to:

  • Donor agencies strengthening their own digital capacities
  • NGOs and civil society organizations, directly or through donor-funded support
  • Church and faith-based media organizations
  • National and regional networks in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, and Eastern Europe

Many engagements work at two levels simultaneously: a donor organization commissions our services both for their own team and for the partner organizations they fund in the Global South. CAMECO coordinates across both levels, adapting language, format, and risk context accordingly.

Working With Us Over Time

Some organizations commission a single workshop and find that is exactly what they need. Others may need follow-ups as their team grows, the tools change, or new challenges emerge. There is no fixed package or required commitment.

What we have found, though, is that organizations get the most lasting value when they treat digital capacity as something they revisit periodically, not solve once. The digital environment moves too fast for a one-time intervention to stay relevant.
