Strengthening community, development-oriented and Church media and communication initiatives in the Global South and in transition countries is CAMECO's central concern. With our non-profit consulting services, we support donor agencies – including numerous faith based international aid organisations – as well as local partner institutions in planning and implementing all necessary steps to bring their perspectives into the public debate.

Desk Officer for Central and Eastern Europe / Central Asia

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Screening and assessing project proposals from partner organisations in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia
  • Advice and support in the development of radio, TV, print and digital media / social media projects, in cooperation with project partners
  • Guiding communication and media development work in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia
  • Development and management of media development projects publicly funded (BMZ) or by private foundations
  • Active participation in the development of our new business areas Design Thinking, Digital Media Literacy, and enhancing Digital Safety and Capacity Development of civil society organisations in insecure contexts

 

Qualification

  • University degree in a field relevant to the tasks (e.g. communication studies, journalism, regional studies, or development studies)
  • Previous relevant professional experience in the media industry and/or in development cooperation
  • International experience, preferably in Central and Eastern Europe or Central Asia
  • Experience in digital media education, capacity building, training or coaching
  • Experience working with local / Church / community / social media
  • Experience with project cycle management
  • In-depth developmental skills and knowledge of the current state of the debate
  • Experience in working with NGOs, committees and associations

 

Language skills

  • Business fluent language skills in French, English and / or German
  • Any other language spoken in Central and Eastern Europe or Central Asia would be an additional advantage

The position offers creative space and a diverse field for your professional development. The scope of the position is 75% (29 hours per week). We offer an initial 14-month contract, with the possibility of long-term extension, a competitive salary, and social benefits package including an additional pension fund.
